The long days of this summer seem to be rolling together so quickly. Sunday comes, and before I know it, it’s Saturday once again. During this time, there’s so much I try to accomplish. I have gotten a considerable number of tasks done this week, but yet, I am in far reach of what I must accomplish by July 26th. My plate is full! Thankful am I, that I don’t have to be everywhere. One or two outings a week is really enough for me.
Last evening the warm setting I have outside, caused me to just stop. I sat down on one of the chairs, and within 5 minutes I heard a beautiful sound. My heart leapt, because the sound was the happiness of my friendly hummingbird coming over for dinner. I am thrilled I had my phone with me to take the photo/video below. It was a magical moment!
As a follower of Christ, His complete love compels me to know more and to love with the most utmost transparency. This builds on my fascination with the Native people of the United States. I find their earthly ways refreshing, as I do the Garifuna people of my own native land. Indigenous constructs, I’ve come to know as special healing elements in my own life story. Their depictions of resilience spark the desire to continue to do the much-needed research studies as one segment of my daily work. In addition, application of many modalities known as normalcy in these groups, enhances my eating habits and physicality. I cannot read the Bible without allowing my own heart to be curious of God’s people. Every man! Every woman!
In Native American culture, hummingbirds are described as healers and bringers of love, good luck, and joy. In Central America, they are a symbol of love and will bring love to the person who sees them. The hummingbird normally denotes joy and playfulness, as well as adaptability.
I see this little creature so often, and I am happy I was able to capture the photo/video above. Every time he/she comes to visit me, I know it’s a message from God. It brings to me numerous tidings. First, it tells me, I must be flexible, mostly when personal love crosses my path again. Second, it directs me, to always seek out or help to bring out the sweetness in others. Third, I must find joy in the little things. Fourth, to breathe ever so lightly, when boulders are in my path. Fifth, to aim for my goals, knowing where they are, and go after them with dignity and grace. And sixth, to allow time to smell the roses.
In the presence of hummingbirds, a great deal is lifted. These darling creatures are like the smallest of angels sent down from heaven. My code of privacy is never too strict to let them in. Into my heart… to nourish my soul. Which could lead me to enter into a space of occasional garrulous friendships, outside of the place my comfort exist. They keep me polite, to never overstay my welcome too 🙂
Society places so much emphasis on happiness. Though, how is this measured on a daily basis? Through an Instagram or Facebook post? Numerous people I see, display such grief and unhappiness. While I earnestly hold the light, the empath I sometimes allow to sit in my depth, secretly know and carry these feelings for those in this special group. Invisible baskets filled with scented flowers I pray they sit on, to ease the heartaches, disappointments, longing, and love desires. As I hold the light, I imagine the sun to cause the scent of these flowers to be even stronger, and the breeze of Jesus to blow. The breath, which takes away all worries and strife.
“Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy.”
Psalm 126:2
Indeed they still are, we seek and we find these lovely songs.
Joy comes in the morning, yes. But joy is in every 24 hours lived. If needs are more than this, God is fond of granting favors to everyone of His children. However, we must never ignore His greatness and His longing for our company. Gosh! I tear up now, as I reflect on His goodness and His guidance in my life. How he’s touched my daughter’s life, is likewise, quite remarkable.
Whew! My schedule is a bit out of control this week. When I started this note, I imagined it would be one paragraph. But…words cannot be suppressed.
In closing, I leave you with this:
Remember…
-You are the only person who can create the results of your experiences.
-You are the only one who can design and build the depths of your relationships. No one can do this for you.
-You are in charge of your life-value systems.
-You are the artist of every moment and aspect in your life. This includes your perception and love for yourself. If you do not like who you are, acknowledge this, work at the changes you seek, and find people who appreciate who you are at the very moment they meet you. Having people like this in your life, may be the very conduit you seek to hold ever so tightly…to God’s most perfect love in you.
The spirit of the beautiful hummingbird above represents some of the many layers of our Father. Love hard, appreciate more! And, always, remain in perfect communion with Him.
With love,
Charlotte
